SSF Council PTA celebrates the 115th birthday of PTA Founders Day
As part of the Founders Day celebration teacher Deborah Carlino and her husband, Lt. Ron Carlino were given PTA Honorary Service Awards for their outstanding work with children in the SSF community. Deborah teaches 5th grade at Martin School, lovingly guiding children in extraordinary discovery as a careful custodian of their learning. PTA promotes the welfare, care and protection of children. Deborah Carlino and Lt. Carlino exemplify those values as they help the students in and out of the classroom, in the safety patrol duties, in PTA service, and caring for the families in many ways.

PTA's School Smarts Parent Academy Pilot Program
Out of the 14 schools chosen throughout the entire state of California to pilot this parent academy, three of them are South City schools--Los Cerritos, Martin, and Skyline Elementary schools. What an honor and how well deserved! Parents at these academies learned about:

- Taking Action and Celebrating Leadership.
