Superintendent's Message on Reopening SSFUSD: 8-4-21 The new school year is quickly approaching, and we are excited to welcome our students and staff back to school! Wednesday, August 11th is the first day of the 2021-2022 school year. I wanted to inform you that when our district reopens for in-person instruction on that date, we will require all students and adults in our TK-12 schools to wear masks while indoors.

Superintendent's End of Year Message: 5-28-21 With the conclusion of the 2020-21 school year upon us, I want to thank you again for bearing with us these past 14 months. Since our district was forced to transition from in-person classes on March 16, 2020, to distance learning, our teachers and staff had to quickly find new ways to deliver instruction while keeping students engaged, and our parents had to quickly adjust to at-home teaching support. Our families have been instrumental in all successes we experienced!

Superintendent's Message on Reopening SSFUSD: 4-14-21 I hope that everyone had a chance to relax and recharge over spring break, and that your first week back was a good one. If you haven’t already heard, we have a new school board member: Dr. Chialin Hsieh. Dr. Hsieh has worked in education since 1997 and is currently the senior dean of planning and institutional effectiveness at Los Medanos College in Pittsburg. Her son graduated from El Camino High School in 2020, and her family has lived in South San Francisco for the past 11 years.
Superintendent's Message on Reopening SSFUSD: 3-19-21 I’m writing to inform you that our school board voted yesterday to keep our middle and high school students in distance learning for the remainder of the school year, while preparing for summer school and a fall 2021 reopening. Our district will continue to look for ways to serve middle and high school students most in need by expanding learning hubs and other measures. In the meantime, TK-5 students will have the option to return to campus for two hours of in-person instruction starting April 19, 2021.
Superintendent's Message on Reopening SSFUSD: 3-4-21 San Mateo County recently returned to the red tier of the state’s color-coded system which tracks the number of positive COVID-19 cases by counties. Red means “Substantial”, which means schools, may reopen for in-person instruction after they have remained in the red tier for 14 days. This development coupled with our January 28 decision to allow athletic participation with modified seasons and schedules for the 2021 spring semester has prompted our school board to continue exploring ways to bring students safely back on campus.
