Fire on San Bruno Mountain Poses No Danger to SSFUSD

Due to a fire burning on the Brisbane side of San Bruno Mountain, some of our school communities are experiencing a strong odor of smoke.

The South San Francisco Fire Department has indicated that there is currently no danger to our schools.

Out of an abundance of caution, some of our schools may be directing our students and staff to avoid prolonged periods of outdoor exposure. This may include modifying daily activity that would otherwise be conducted outdoors, such as moving physical education classes, lunch activities, recess, outdoor rallies, sporting events, etc., to indoor facilities, or in some cases, cancellation of some activities.

Any students with health issues which are exacerbated by the present condition, and those who experience any difficulties as a result of the air quality, are encouraged to immediately notify school staff.

We will continue to actively monitor the conditions of our local area and will provide any updates we receive on this website.   At this time, as there is no present danger to our school communities, and school remains in session as regularly scheduled.
