Teach with Scoot at SSFUSD!

Since May 2025, Scoot Education has been SSFUSD's exclusive provider for substitute teachers and paraprofessionals. If you’re interested in becoming a substitute teacher or paraprofessional at SSFUSD and other Scoot school partners, then please apply!

How it works

  • Apply via Scoot’s application software. Their team will help you complete the federal and state requirements.
  • Once an activated educator, you can decide what days and times you want to work via their app, Scoot2Work.
  • You’ll also be assigned a Scoot Education Consultant who will help connect you with opportunities that are aligned with your strengths and interests. You can request to sub primarily at SSFUSD, but you’ll also have work opportunities available at Scoot’s other school partners.

  • Higher & Weekly Pay: Earn up to $270 per day (short-term) or $330 per day (long-term)
  • More Work & Opportunity: You can continue working with the SSFUSD community while also working at other Scoot school partners.
  • Flexible Scheduling: Set when you’re available for work on the Scoot2Work app either on browser or mobile.
  • Personalized Support: A Scoot consultant will match you with school assignments that fit your strengths and interests. They can also provide feedback and advice.
  • Professional Development: Access training material around topics like classroom management, special education, trauma-informed teaching, and diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • 401k: After meeting minimum work and employment requirements, Scoot educators are eligible for a 401k program.
  • Become a Credentialed Teacher via TeachStart: If you’re interested in subbing full-time while earning your lead teaching credential, then ask about TeachStart in your application interview with Scoot Education.

Requirements

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree, or 60+ college credits
  • Three professional references with one by a previous direct supervisor
  • A cleared TB risk assessment & background check (we’ll reimburse the cost of the background check you do with Scoot via your first paycheck with them)
  • A passion for education and putting students first
  • An empathetic nature, a growth mindset, and a drive to be the best you can be
