Responsible Use & Internet Safety Policy
SSFUSD Student Technology Responsible Use & Internet Safety Policy
SSFUSD strongly believes in the educational value of technology and the Internet. In this connected world, students must have access to tools that enable them to effectively communicate, collaborate, and create. By providing this access and guiding students in the academic use of technology, we will support our students’ individual learning needs; we will promote excellence through communication, collaboration, and creativity for all students; and prepare them to become effective, responsible citizens enabling them to participate in the global learning community.
All teachers will instruct students in the proper use of SSFUSD devices, the Internet and the district network and will guide them toward appropriate materials. Outside of school, families bear the same responsibility for guiding students in their search for appropriate learning resources. It is a shared responsibility of district staff and parents/guardians to supervise student access to Internet content, and it is the student's responsibility to avoid accessing inappropriate material. To ensure safety for all students, student activity and device usage may be monitored and filtered while using SSFUSD issued devices.
Google accounts are provided for all SSFUSD students allowing them to use the Google suite of tools, including Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, Classroom, Gmail etc, to foster communication, collaboration, and creativity.
SSFUSD is dedicated to preparing all of our students for college and career, therefore, each student will be provided one device that will remain with them throughout their time in SSFUSD.
Students are expected to take proper care of all district-issued devices and report any misuse. Please see the Device Care and Handling tips on the following page for specific ways to care for your device.
Students and families may be held responsible for any excessive damages.
Students who fail to follow the responsible use policy may be subject to disciplinary action at the discretion of the principal.
