After School and Extended Programs

While each school and Provider-Partner is a little different, Extended Day Programs commonly include:

• Homework time and academic support
• Enrichment (arts, STEM, games, clubs, hands-on projects)
• Movement, recreation, and outdoor play
• Social-emotional learning and relationship-building
• A positive, consistent community where students feel: Safe • Seen • Supported • Engaged
   

SSFUSD partners with trusted community organizations and Provider-Partners to operate Extended Day Programs.

• The District’s ELOP Office helps families understand program options, timelines, and ELOP eligibility.
• Provider-Partners operate the daily program and manage registration, rosters, schedules, waitlists, and site-specific policies.

Current Provider-Partners for the school year include:

• Boys & Girls Club of the Peninsula
• CAMedu
• Daly City Recreation Services
• Right At School
• South San Francisco Parks & Recreation Department
• District Extended Day Activities Program (DEDAP)

In many cases, students attend the same Extended Day Programs, but the way it’s paid for can be different. ELOP (Expanded Learning Opportunities Program) is a State of California program (created in 2022) that expands access to before and after-school care for eligible students in TK–6. If your student is eligible and if space is available, ELOP can allow families to access care at no cost.

Because space is limited, enrollment is not guaranteed, and availability varies by school site.

Students who qualify for free or reduced-price meals may be eligible for no-cost before and after-school care through ELOP. Eligible students may attend OST programming at no cost for up to 210 days per year, based on available space and the school’s program offerings.
