Preschool is an important step in a child’s education. Research shows that high-quality, early education programs have a significant impact on a child’s chances of future success.

In preschool, children develop a range of skills that helps prepare them for kindergarten.

The Program

SSFUSD's preschool program aims to help children develop social and emotional skills and learn how to share, communicate, and get along with other children, while learning about numbers, letters, shapes, art, and science in a play-based classroom environment.

SSFUSD also offers parent workshops to help young families develop parenting skills designed to help them inside and outside of school.

All of SSFUSD's preschool programs utilize the California Preschool Learning Foundations (volumes 1-3) curriculum and employ the Desired Results Developmental Profile (DRDP) tool to assess student development and readiness for school.

Both tools align with California Common Core State Standards.
