Futurelab is a hyper-local science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) education initiative that supports K-12 students in South San Francisco Unified School District (SSFUSD).
The initiative is comprised of three programs: Gene Academy, Helix Cup, and Science Garage.

A mentoring program that enables elementary school students to visit the Genentech campus once a week to work on science projects and receive homework help that's meant to excite students about science.
An annual competition for SSFUSD eighth graders involving real-world, hands-on science challenges that's meant to engage students and help them develop problem-solving, teamwork, and science skills.
A four-year, biotech curriculum for SSFUSD high school students taught in a state-of-the-art biotech lab and classroom that's meant to equip students with advanced lab skills and spark ignite a passion for future careers in STEM.
