Light: A Prescription for Hope and Joy “Let your light shine,” said South San Francisco Unified School District (SSFUSD) Superintendent Dr. Shawnterra Moore during her annual welcome back address to the district’s teachers and employees on August 8.
Superintendent's Message on the Start of the 2022-23 School Year: 8-10-22 Welcome to the 2022-23 school year! I hope you all had a chance to rest and rejuvenate yourselves over the summer. We are enthusiastically anticipating your student(s) return for this upcoming year. As we begin the new year, we want to make you aware of some new changes as well as several projects that we will be kicking off this year!
Superintendent's Message on End of the Year: 5-25-22 It is hard to believe that we have made it through another eventful and stressful year, but we have. As we bring the 2021-22 school year to a close, I want to reflect back on the many ways in which we have proactively responded and pivoted to different health and safety requirements throughout the year.
Superintendent's Message on Reopening: 4-15-22 It has been about two weeks since we returned from spring break, and I hope that you all had a chance to rest and refuel and we look toward finishing strong in the last six weeks of the school year. As you may recall, our school board decided during its March 10 meeting to leave our district’s indoor masking policy in place until at least April 18, so that we could assess public health conditions and our community’s COVID-19 case rates in the wake of spring break.
Superintendent's Message on Reopening: 3-23-22 Spring is here! We are so thankful to our staff, students, and parents for following our safety guidelines to reduce the spread of COVID-19. With the extra hour of daylight, we hope you enjoy time with your family.
Superintendent's Message on Reopening 2-16-22 I hope you and your family had a wonderful holiday filled with love and happiness! I wanted to inform you that today, February 16, the California Department of Public Health’s (CDPH) statewide indoor mask mandate will expire.
Superintendent's Message on Reopening: 2-3-22 I wanted our community to know that we have seen a decrease in our district’s COVID-19 case rates from a high of 248 during the week of January 10 to 197 during the week of January 17 and 130 during the week of January 24. This coincides with a drop in case rates across San Mateo County as a whole.
Superintendent's Message on Reopening 1-18-22 I’m writing to update you on the latest information we’ve received related to new guidance and some of the ways in which SSFUSD continues to respond to the latest COVID-19 surge that our state and nation are experiencing. Our district is following updated COVID-19 guidance found in the latest pandemic recovery framework, which has been posted on our district website. We have also continued to test our students and staff, and we are constantly reevaluating and monitoring the implementation of our health and safety protocols to ensure we are protecting the health and safety of our students and staff. This includes revising our health and safety protocols concerning the isolation, contact tracing, and quarantine of COVID-19 cases.
Superintendent's Message on Reopening: 1-7-22 Welcome to 2022 as we finish our first week of the new year! As classes get underway again, I want to bring you up to date with all that has happened since winter break. As you may know, our state and nation have recently experienced an increase in COVID-19 cases driven by the new Omicron variant. To protect the health and well-being of our students and staff, our district has taken a number of steps to ensure a safe return-to school.
Superintendent's Message on Reopening: 12-30-21 As the new year approaches, and families start making plans to return to school, I want to take this opportunity to remind you that we must continue to be vigilant against COVID-19, particularly with regard to the Omicron variant, which appears to be settling in across the Bay Area. Although cases across the nation are rising, many people in the Bay Area are fully vaccinated and boosted, which has fortunately helped to curtail severe illness, even in instances of breakthrough infections.
