It's almost the end of the year, and I want to thank every one of you who have worked to make sure that our students have been learning and achieving! Your efforts are paying off.

Our amazing students from El Camino and South San Francisco High Schools recently took home 47 of 50 scholarships at the South San Francisco Chamber of Commerce's scholarship luncheon on April 25! It's always so inspiring to see our young people graduate and start a new chapter of their life.

It's also a testament to the commitment you as educators and we as a district have made to provide our students with exceptional instruction, and it's time to celebrate you and all that you do.

As you know, teacher appreciation week just concluded, and classified employee appreciation week is coming up next week. Meanwhile, our Golden Apple Awards are happening on May 15. I hope you will all be there to applaud your colleagues and the district's newest batch of retirees!

Finally, I want to thank you all for being such a big part of all the changes we are ushering in to our district. Last May, we finalized our new portrait of a graduate. In January, we put together a new strategic plan, and we are now figuring out how to implement it.

Last week, our Measure T bond program team conducted a student listening session with 12 students from South San Francisco High School.

The students were led through a series of questions by consulting firm Kathleen Moore and Associates designed to solicit feedback about what areas of the school they like, what areas need improvement, and what changes they would to see at the campus to enhance their educational experience.

These discussions are part of the educational specification process that focuses on what a general education classroom in SSFUSD might look like at the elementary, middle, and high school level. It incorporates what educators and students believe their schools physically need to support specific educational programs.

Many thanks to everyone who attended the National Artificial Intelligence (AI) Literacy Day Conference in San Jose last month.

It was an informative conference that gave a perspective on how educational institutions should teach students about AI and how technology companies like Microsoft, Google, and IBM can support these efforts by providing the appropriate tools and technology.

This is an important development for us to understand, and we appreciate having the opportunity to learn more about it.

Remember that we are here to help you with all your technology-related questions and concerns.

Please direct all general, technology-related inquiries to our department via:
