California Healthy Kids Survey

School districts in California are encouraged to participate in the California Healthy Kids Survey (CHKS) every two years. SSFUSD students will take the survey next in the Spring of the 2022-2023 school year.

The CHKS is a state-sponsored survey that many districts and schools use to solicit feedback from students, staff, and parents/guardians about many aspects related to youth and school, including attitudes toward academics, social emotional and behavioral supports, school climate, and health and wellness.

SSFUSD administers the CHKS at grades 5, 7, 9, and 11 every other year as part of our community engagement, stakeholder feedback, and LCAP processes.

The CHKS is anonymous and voluntary. Individuals who take the survey can skip questions they do not want to answer. Completing the survey usually takes about 30-40 minutes.

Staff surveys are sent directly to staff from their site administrators. Parent surveys are sent directly to parents from their site administrators.

Data from these surveys informs SSFUSD's school planning and program decisions.

We encourage everyone to participate in order to incorporate a wide range of voices and perspectives into our continuous improvement processes.

For questions about the CHKS, please contact Dr. Marianne Hew, Director of Student Performance, Program Evaluation, and Instructional Interventions, at 650-877-8835 or via e-mail at: mhew[at]ssfusd.org.
